Happy summer.

Happy last day of spring, y'all! Summer officially begins tomorrow, and we decided to celebrate with nail art, obviously. What better way to enjoy your first day of summer than with a manicure acknowledging the best fruit of the season? There is no better way, actually, which is why we're giving you the deets on how to do this melon mani for yourself.

You'll need a pink and green nail polish—we used COVERGIRL XL Nail Gel in Plump It Pear and Whole Lotta Guava. For the seeds, we used COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Black Diamond. And for the white rind, we used COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Snow Storm.

Paint your nails using two coats of your pink polish. As you let your nails dry, think of how many different ways you're going to ingest watermelon this season—in drinks, in salads, in its true form, etc. Enjoy your refreshing thoughts.

Once your nails are dry, apply a piece of tape across the middle of the nail.

Using your white polish, paint below the tape. If you have a steady hand, great, but if not, your art will still be a masterpiece because the tape is protecting you from painting too far.

Slowly (and only once your nails are totally dry) remove the tape.

Now is when having a steady hand comes in handy (LOL, get it?). You're going to need to freehand draw a green line across the bottom of your nail, leaving a sliver of white exposed. How much white is left is up to you—rinds come in all shapes and sizes, right?

Once you've got green on your nails, you're almost done! A brush with a skinny tip is ideal for painting the seeds on these guys, but you can probably manage with the normal brush if you don't have anything skinnier. You can dot seeds all over the pink—as many or as few as you like, go cray!

And just like that, you're done! Ready for summer on your nails and in body/mind/spirit. Have a great summer solstice, everyone! Don't forget to share your #covermoment worthy nails with us!
